Packaged & Dangerous Goods
Specialist collection and transport for contained hazardous materials
CWS provides safe, compliant collection and transport of packaged waste and dangerous goods for commercial, industrial and government clients across Queensland and beyond.
From individual drums and containers to mixed consignments of hazardous materials, our experienced team manages the identification, segregation, collection and transport process through to an appropriately licensed receiving, treatment or disposal facility.
01 _ WASTE STREAMS
Packaged waste for smaller and mixed waste streams
Packaged waste generally refers to smaller quantities of liquid or solid waste stored in separate containers rather than transported in bulk.
This approach is particularly suited to sites that generate multiple waste streams, have limited storage capacity or need to prevent incompatible substances from being mixed together.
Packaged waste may be stored and transported in:
Drums
Intermediate bulk containers (IBCs)
Bottles and smaller approved containers
Sealed bins and specialised waste containers
Other packaging appropriate to the material
CWS can assist with packaged waste including paints, solvents, oils, resins, chemicals, acids, alkalis, contaminated absorbents, laboratory waste and other hazardous or regulated materials.
02 _ PACKAGED
Correctly packaged, labelled, and segregated
Damaged, leaking, unidentified or incorrectly packaged materials can expose personnel, property and the environment to unnecessary risk. Incompatible substances must also be kept apart throughout storage, loading and transport.
Where required, CWS can help coordinate:
Waste identification and classification
Dangerous-goods class assessment
Supply of suitable drums, IBCs and containers
Repacking or overpacking of damaged containers
Labelling and manifest preparation
Segregation of incompatible materials
Loading and site-access planning
Waste tracking and transport documentation
Facility acceptance and disposal coordination
03 _ DANGEROUS GOODS
Dangerous goods require additional controls
Dangerous goods are substances or articles classified according to the hazards they present during storage and transport—such as flammability, toxicity, corrosivity, reactivity or environmental risk.
While packaged hazardous waste and dangerous goods frequently overlap, they are not interchangeable classifications. A material may be regulated as waste, classified as dangerous goods for transport, or subject to both sets of requirements.
CWS considers the material, quantity, packaging, dangerous-goods classification and site conditions before collection. This helps determine the appropriate vehicle, segregation controls, placarding, documentation and receiving facility.
04 _ DELIVERY
Collection through to final delivery
Our service can cover the complete movement—from assessing the materials onsite through to collection, transport and delivery at an appropriately licensed facility.
Depending on the waste stream, materials may be directed toward recovery, recycling, treatment or disposal. CWS works with clients and receiving facilities to establish a practical pathway before collection, supporting a clear and responsible chain of custody.
Our capabilities include:
Scheduled packaged-waste collections
One-off clean-outs and chemical removals
Mixed and multi-container consignments
Dangerous-goods transport
Industrial, commercial and laboratory waste
Unknown, legacy and difficult waste streams
Damaged or compromised containers
Remote and restricted-access sites
Time-critical and emergency response
Why CWS?
CWS combines specialist transport capability with careful, hands-on coordination.
